SummaryI'd never sell itPros: The detail, design, physics, music, and simplicity of this game are seamless on three of the four tables. No glitches. Ever.
The tables Station, Soccer and Retro all resemble their real-life counterparts without a flaw. They each make use of common paths you feel the ball would naturally go to, almost always you can achieve a fluid Figure 8 motion that racks up huge points.
The best example of this, and best table overall, is the Soccer table. The "Points X 10" multiplier is relatively easy to get compared to Station, the other table with such a high multiplier. The goals on the Soccer table also fall directly into the Figure 8 pattern I mentioned, making this table have a smooth, fluid feel to the player.
Station and Retro both have their good points, but lack the symmetry of Soccer. This makes them more of a challenge, which is probably a good thing. Once you master a table to the point where you're making 20-30 million points, you should switch over to another one in order to keep your skills even. Don't play one table over and over, you may forget the basic layout and goal patterns of others.
Cons: The RoboMech table is awful. The physics are screwy and glitch to your disadvantage ALOT. Usually twice per ball something stupid will happen onscreen that pulls you out of the realism the other tables create. Example: the ball rolls down the bridge connected to the left ramp that drops the ball above the right flipper. You hold the flipper in place to catch the ball, let it settle, release and tap to send it up the same ramp again. The balls moves correctly until it's in the middle of nowhere, then ricochets off of nothing straight down between your flippers.
That glitch isn't the only one, like when the ball GOES THROUGH YOUR FLIPPER, but it is certainly confusing as much as it is ANNOYING.
Frankly, ANNOYING is the best way to describe every aspect of this table. I can score 5x as many points on the Soccer table than this one. That should emphathize how awful RoboMech is.
RoboMech gets a "1" in all of the above catagories.
Reviewer's Comments
This game is often underated due to its generic title and cover art, making this game easy to find PLUS it's uncommonly cheap for something so tight-knit.
Be sure and turn the music up! It's better than most games out there and really surprised me.
Forget that the RoboMech table even exists and you'll learn to love this game.
