Summary
Solid GBA Racer
Pros: Graphics: Good, using mode 7-style. Frame rate is a near-solid 60 and the draw distance is good.
Sound: Good variety of engine sounds.
Gameplay: The controls are decent. They get a little getting used to. A good selection of cars and tracks also helps. You'll probably play through this at least once. And there's 2-player multi-cartridge support.
Cons: Graphics: Road textures are a little blocky, and flickering lights in night races when using the Gameboy Player (but it's nothing the select button can't fix).
Sound: In-race music uses the GBC sound chip.
Reviewer's Comments
GT Advance 3 is a good racing game for the GBA. The graphics and sound are decent, and there's variety in the cars (97) and tracks (32). There are two strange things about this game, though. First are the track names, although some of them DO make sense. Second is the fact that EVERY car in this game has a 6-speed transmission. If you already have Mario Kart, this game should be on your short list for your next racing game on the GBA.
