SummaryX2 - The new Elite?Pros: The freedom. It is possible to go to a great variety of different system ruled by different races, as many times as you like. You can just freelance around and do nothing, but you can do some bussiness, earn you own money, upgrade your ship and have the best ship in the galaxy. You can build your own factories and make your own product that you can sell for a steady income, and hire or buy armed ascorts for your vulnerable freighters to protect them from pirates. Almost everything is possible. I like the complexity of the game, it is very hard to start your own bussiness and it takes a lot of time, but this game simply never gets boring because of the variety of things you can do.
Cons: The controls are terrible! As an example, to program your turret to attack the enemy, you must go through lots of menus and untill then you're space dust allready. If you want to be successful, you MUST learn all the shortcuts so you can go through 5 menus a second. And the behave of ships in space isn't very realistic, but it's OK. What really disappointed me are the animations in which you see your character talking to another, because the characters look like they're made of some kind of plastic mass that can hardly move it's mouth :)
Reviewer's Comments
It is a great game, absolutely worth buying. Especially for space-sim fans and people who liked Elite a must have.
X2 still isn't at the same level Elite was, but who knows, maybe X3 will be the Elite of the 21st century.
