Reviewer's Comments

Let me get this out of the way at the start; I love my RPG's and this is my all-time favorite!

In this game, you are 20 and have live all of your life in the citadel of Candlekeep under the watchful eye of your adoptive father, Gorion. One day, he quickly tells you to prepare for travel, hands you some gold and takes you to the Inn to purchase equipment. You soon face assassins in the town, kick thier butts and report to Gorion. On the first night of your journey, an armored figure appears and asks for your life. Gorion tells you to run and is cut down before your eyes. You resolve to walk your own path and get revenge for his death.

You're going to notice that this game starts off with a character creation screen. You will have a very high level of customization, from things as important as race and class to stuff as minute as clothing color and voice settings. From here, the game is opened up for you. You should notice the excellent graphics. From the characters to the environments to the spelcasting, it's all beautiful. Soon afterward, you'll notice the good use of ambient sound effects and music that changes with whatever is happening to you. When you finally get to hear NPC's talk, you will hear the fun of the voice actors delivering a stellar performance. Look for the Voices of the Winds and the Chanter in Candlekeep Garden, then you'll hear what I mean. Also, the controls are a simple point-and-click setup. The gameplay is slick and involving, using the basic setup of the game Dungeons & Dragons. Also, the party system is fun and allows for large varieties in setup. Trust me, you will be meeting a large variety of people ranging from the dim-witted berserker Minsc and his pet hamster, Boo, to the psychopathic necromancer Xzar. As an added bonus, you can create parties with friends over the Internet or a LAN connection and really take the experience to a whole new level! Besides, even on your own, the game already has a lot of replay value because it has a lot of different paths that you can take.

I can't praise this game enough! It kicks the crap out of all other D&D rip-offs out there! Buy it and its expansion pack, 'Tales of the Sword Coast'. You won't be disappointed.
