High-qualitygraphics provide over-the-top fighting action, M (Mature), Unbelievable graphics and great multiplayer modes, Takes the series’ intense action to new heights, Sequel to Dead or Alive 3 and Dead or Alive Ultimate
SummaryUghPros: The graphics are breath taking. No denying that. Sounds and soundtrack rock the casbah.
Cons: For starters, the controls to the game make you want to hang yourself. They are aggravating, unresponsive, and completely without logic. The counter system is almost completely useless, as the AI 90% of the time will strike in the opposite direction of your counter so the best you can hope for is to get lucky. The AI does RIDICULOUS damage with it's blows, often times taking 3/4 of your health with a single move, while your characters blows and most intense move are lucky to do 1/3. The AI can string together nearly unbreakable combos with lightning accuracy and seemingly without limit. One particular tag survival match I fought the AI annihilated my first character in under 10 seconds with combined 30 hit critical combo....and this was on normal. Which brings up the next point. The game difficulty is normal, hard and very hard which loosely translates to "Extremely hard", "You're dead already, you just don't know it yet" and "Your character died before you turned on the Xbox". This game is ludicrously hard to play. The AI is utterly unbeatable. I was a DOA3 addict and was absolutely unstoppable among my little circle of players, but with DOA4 the best I have managed is 8 wins in tag survival compared to 63 in DOA3.
Reviewer's Comments
All in all, a great idea gone terribly wrong. I rented this game and am thankful I did because I will never buy it and will discourage anyone I know from buying it. Perhaps if you only played 2 or more players it might be enjoyable, but certainly not worth buying. Overall I couldn't be more disappointed with this title. A great game completely ruined. Do yourself a favour, just play DOA3.
