Deadly realistic modern tactical combat game, Offensive cover system permits clever tactics, Strong AI surprises with its range of tactics, Over 15 scenarios, For 1 player
SummaryFlip the SwitchPros: This game made incredible use of "rag doll" physics in gameplay. What this means is that you shoot a guy in the leg, he reacts like his legs have been shot out from under him. Shoot him in the shoulder, the guy spins around and flops to the ground dead. The soldiers react like live people when you shoot them. The blindfire ability was also cool to see - raise the gum from cover and spray some gray (it's just as accurate as trying to blindfire too). The A.I. was also rather clever. Rather than standing there shooting at you (until you get a bead on them and put them out of your misery) they actually come after you in a co-ordinated tandem (one guy stays put, one circles left flank the other circles right and they catch you in the middle). And when you flash grenade them, they panic and start shooting wildly.
Cons: It's really easy to get overwhelmed in this game when the A.I. decides to come get you - you'll find yourself dying alot. The other thing is that in large groups, when you kill one guy his weapon keeps discharging (at least I assume that is what is happening since I have yet to see a soldier where the shots are coming from).
Reviewer's Comments
Kill.Switch is interesting - it tries to be both a shooter and a stealth game all at the same time (it's a 3rd person Tactitcal Shooter). A lot of the time it succeeds brilliantly. You HAVE to find cover or you are toast. Other times, you'll find yourself so frustrated that you actually consider the "brilliance" to be a major pain in the arse - especially if you are a "run & gun" type of player (I'M a run & gunner). You HAVE to be patient in Kill.Switch. You HAVE to let you enemy make the first move. You HAVE to be REactive not PROactive. Ultimately, your greatest weapon will be your patience. Keep that in mind and you'll have a blast. Otherwise, you'll simply find yourself being switched off.
